We are still delivering the West of England Works programme throughout this lockdown period and are welcoming new referrals. You will gain support from your dedicated Wellbeing & Work Coach by your preferred choice of communication, via phone, text, email or video call. They can help you with your wellbeing, as well as provide structured support to help achieve your goals. You can take part in our virtual Solutions for Isolation activities, which will help to build your confidence and self-esteem.

West of England Works
We are proud to be a part of the exciting West of England Works programme, which is led by Weston College and funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and European Social Fund, and is part of the national Building Better Opportunities programme. This is our main focus from January 2017 until December 2019 as we seek to provide more employment and education opportunities for people across North Somerset. The project has been extended to the end of June 2022.

Our programme of support is individualised according to the needs of each of our participants.
Our support network is open to people who are currently unemployed, over 15 and have a national insurance number. We will support you if you are facing challenges that make gaining employment tricky, and can support you by teaching new skills, help you gain work experience and secure a job. These challenges may include:
Team North Somerset will help you to:
Each participant will be assigned to a Wellbeing and Work Coach who will work with them on a 1 to 1 basis either at our hub or somewhere in the community where they comfortable.
Solutions for You
Solutions for You has been designed for our participants to grow in confidence, practice conversation techniques and learn how to become proactive.
This programme will run once a week and is an ideal introduction to learning.
Solutions for Work
The participants will then move on to Solutions for Work, which is held over 2 sessions a week. This programme focusses on managing change, recognising skills and qualities, building a CV, preparing for interviews and developing skills for work.
We run a job club on a Friday morning where we support our participants to learn basic computer skills, search for and apply for work.
At the end of Solutions for You and Solutions for Work we then have an activity week. During activity week we organise a variety of things, such as a day trip to Goblin Coombe, a beach walk, quiz afternoon, a session on healthy eating or a colour therapy workshop, amongst other things. We also take our participants on a Job Search Treasure Hunt where they learn to make a speculative approach to employers for jobs and volunteering opportunities.
